AIRBORNE MUSEUM
The Airborne Museum, created and managed by an association, was inaugurated on June 6, 1964. The aim was to pay tribute to the American paratroopers who liberated the village on June 6, 1944. Over the years, thanks to donations and the financial resources of the association, the museum has expanded and been renovated, and today houses 5 pavilions in a park that is a veritable open-air museum covering almost 2 hectares. These pavilions offer a chronological tour focusing on the birth of American airborne troops, their battles before, during and after Normandy, and the epic story of military gliders and the fighters they carried. The museum also evokes the period of German occupation and its consequences for the local population, as well as the Liberation between joy and death, and the effects of the Liberation battles on the population.
The Airborne Museum is the3rd most visited museum of the Second World War in Normandy, and one of the TOP10 in France.
The Airborne Museum has been involved in the captivity museum project from the outset:
- It housed the first temporary exhibition on the Foucarville prison camp.
- He is a founding member of the Warren Kennedy Foundation, which received the archives of the camp commander’s daughter, and contributed financially to its creation,
- It is a founding member of the Warren J. Kennedy Association, which is the project owner for the museum project, and provides support in various forms, including expertise and housing for the collections.

ECPAD | Établissement de Communication et de Production Audiovisuelle de la Défense (Defence Communication and Audiovisual Production Establishment)
Heir to the army’s cinematographic and photographic sections created in 1915, the Établissement de communication et de production audiovisuelle de la Défense (ECPAD) is the audiovisual archives and production center of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces. With nearly 15 million photographs and 100,000 hours of film, ECPAD preserves archives documenting the contemporary conflicts in which the French armed forces have taken part, from the First World War to the present day. These archives are constantly enriched by the work of military reporters, contributions from defense organizations and private donations.
ECPAD places its camera operators – the “soldiers of the image” – at the disposal of the Armed Forces General Staff to monitor armed forces operations at home and abroad. It also produces all types of audiovisual productions for the Ministry. Last but not least, it is responsible for capturing major commemorative events and presentations of the armed forces’ capabilities.
A true cultural player, ECPAD promotes its archive holdings through the publication of books, the co-production of films, the staging of exhibitions, participation in festivals and the hosting of artists in residence. ECPAD also plays an active role in education and research for schoolchildren, students and teachers.
CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
Since 1915, the California Community Foundation (CCF) has been shaping and strengthening Los Angeles communities through the dedication and generosity of visionary donors. Ultimately, we understand that every dollar we receive and every gift we make represents a donor’s legacy, a dream of lasting change, and a chance to make that dream a reality.
A tradition of excellence
As it has grown, CCF has maintained its strong traditions of transparency, respect for donors’ intentions and fiduciary responsibility. This is one of the reasons why our funds endure, and why our donors remain with us from generation to generation.
